RIDE GREAT TRAINS THROUGH A GREAT COUNTRY

3 comments:

  1. The poster is super racist and makes Native Americans seem like a novelty to see while you ride the train. Also 4 out of the 6 names of the trains have racist names associated with "Chief" or "Capitan". None of the colors stand out except for the yellow. This brings you focus to the mini-poster first and then your eye is later pulled to the racist image.

  2. A possible thesis for this poster is that it is trying to draw people to explore the "wild west" by using images of what people typically think about when hearing the "wild west". The warm colors give more effect to the desert background, creating a hot effect. The Native American focused in the photo is another point of what many people think about when discussing the western times. The use of Spanish and the Native American can possibly give white readers incentive to explore this area because it seems foreign.

  3. This ad is being racist towards native Americans. It doesn't make sense to me to have him out in the middle of nowhere looking at a sign about trains, taking a travel on the same route that the natives did. They should've made him walking up to the train station and seeing the bold yellow sign and huge letter 6. I believe it should've went a different direction to show the routes they had taken and not be so racist with the names of the trains. Give more information on the Santa fa.
