  1. My main thesis would be that American Airlines is catering to an important theme in business in those times and certainly now. Efficiency. American Airlines set up the comparison to try and put it in more understandable terms. I guess American Airlines pulls no punches when it comes to showing how efficient they are.

  2. This ad uses a variety of different devices to really drive the idea of how American Airlines is the most efficient and best use of a man's time. As mentioned above, there is a rhetorical question asked as well as metaphors, epistrophe, etc. to get the reader to think about why it would be beneficial for men to use American Airlines. The picture also does a lot of the talking without even saying any words; the body language shows the dynamic as the male being in control and condescending in this situation. There is a lot of description in this ad, but it circles around this idea of being the most convenient and efficient for businessmen as possible.
