Go Pullman

  1. I can already see the argument that you’re establishing here, and I believe it’s similar to mine as well. This ad is clearly catered to the average white family man who is traveling and maybe despises it because of how stressful it is. You can make the argument that the ad of “Go Pullman” was made to entice the average white family man who travels into believing that boarding the Pullman would be the most “comfortable, convenient, and safe” way for him to relax and therefore have a successful meeting due to the fact that he boarded a Pullman. You could even take it a step further with hegemony and explain how the dominant narrative of the white man is the reason why this ad was created in the first place and how it was just “common sense” to have a white man as the representation of the ad as it obviously secludes everyone else (gender & race) from the picture.

  2. I agree it is frustrating how they use just a white man. It bothers me as well that there are no kids or any women in the pictures. This ad makes me feel like only single white men can go and rent a room there. The ad doesn’t say why it is better than any other hotel, just because they serve food automatically people go there. So the argument here would be that anybody should be able to get a Go Pullman.

  3. I agree with you on that Pullman is trying to show this add for upperclass white men, just for the men to get away from family an all distractions, because he doesn't say anything about family or kids.. With the bold letters to start each statement below the photos its trying to draw you in from the beginning so you don't bored. There is nothing that really grabs your attention, doesn't show a lot of why Pullman should be chosen over other. Needs to show more and provide more information about what goes on in and out of the Pullman. I don't agree with the simple food picture in the middle; I believe they should of had a group of people around a table enjoying their meal so it would interest more men to come.
