PlaySkool Tape Recorder Ad Outline

PlaySkool Tape Recorder Advertisement Outline

1. Intro - Sarcastic Intro plus a Little Narrative

(All of this said sarcastically)
(Also, kind of playing around with this so suggestions on how to do this would be nice)

What do those parents dream of who have crazy ass kids?

A device that can control their crazy ass kid.

This ad presents a solution!

A tape recorder!

I wish my parents had this around when my brother was cutting his hair with safety scissors to make his hair look like a tornado.

However, I don't think that would have stopped him.

2. Point One: Ad is Stereotypical and Enhances Traditional Gender Roles

- First Thoughts on the Ad: Why would a boy like this use something like a tape recorder, you think he would be the last person to buy this, he would probably be used for a b-b gun commercial.

-boys are stereotypically crazy and all over the place so this ad is representing stereotypes of boys being tough and rough with everything

-Also it encourages boys to be loud and project their voice in society. What they say matters and they need to project it over everyone else. (will cite source in this one)

3. Point Two: Control of the Child through High Contrast

- High contrast visually and with the objects in the advertisement.

- You have this Looney Toons Tasmanian Devil character boy and this tape recorder resisting his boxing gloves and destructive behavior.

- In the text it has a lot of words about keeping the kid under control with a list of mechanisms of the tape recorder that helps parents keep their kid under control.

4. Point Three: Red = Warning!

- Red color is everywhere.

- Red is usually a color of warning, so it is warning us this crazy boy is coming.

- White color is warring the red color like calm in the middle of the storm.

5. Conclusion:

This ad presents a lot of different aspects. It presents stereotyping of boys being loud and encouraging that loudness, giving parents a sense of control through text and high contrast, and the high amount of red in the ad presents the sense of warning that the boy is cray and destructive.

This ad says boys are rough and tough and don't give a crap. I am waiting for an ad that shows a boy giving a crap and gives boys depth. Because I know my brother has a lot more depth to him than what this ad says here.

  1. There is a solid base of structure that is clearly visible. You definitely have a pathway to work through that'll guide you throughout presentation. The main points that you've drawn upon are great as well, with that said, you will want to make sure there are clearer transitions into each one, or at least something that will give you a smoother build up about what you are going to relinquish next. Something that I will have to implement myself as well would be Citations to each of your points that are broader as well. Clear direction and much to dabble around going ahead into presentation so far.
