black power social movement theories

Empowering the Black Power Movement | Black power, Social equality ...
1. Bouvard- Mothers of the plaza de mayo came together for their children. They were socialized into roles regarding the male being the dominant figure. The people of the black power movement were discriminated against and were looked at as inferior to white people. Mothers participated in this movement because they wanted a better future for their children, mothers wanted their kids to have a fair and equal opportunity to most importantly education, but also to basic things like restrooms, restaurants, etc.
2. Griffin- he says "pro-movements, in which the rhetorical attempt is to arouse public opinion to the creation or acceptance of an institution or idea." The black power movement is aiming to get white people to look at black people as equal to them and to allow them to have the same opportunities and just basic human rights.
3. Leung and Williams- Although the #MeToo movement started to get attention when white women began sharing their stories, the original movement was about black women and them being abused and mistreated. The MeToo started out as black women, but the Black Power movement can relate because of its goal to stop the mistreatment of black people such as beatings, lynchings, and many other forms of abuse
