This season in the NFL, there was a lot attraction and dispute about NFL players kneeling during the national anthem. It all began in 2016 with a former NFL quarterback and player by the name of Colin Kaepernick. Many people were disgusted and left people confused as to why he was taking a knee. The team he played for (San Francisco 49ers), let him go later that season. Now we see many players and teams taking a knee throughout the league. This caught the attention of Donald Trump and took action quick.
1. Appeal to consequences
"Still, plenty opted to kneel during 'The Star-Spangled Banner,' with the Baltimore Ravens' Terrell Suggs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Mike Evans among the stars following the lead of former pro quarterback Colin Kaepernick." Many players are kneeling to try and appeal the injustice in America. There may be consequences such as getting fired from the team but if it helps improve the justice system, so be it. When the president took notice, he said players should be "fined" or "fired" because of the "disrespect" towards the US. It even reached the point to where teams would stay in the locker rooms until the national anthem was over.
2. Bandwagon Fallacy
Personally I feel like there is a lot of bandwagon going on in the article. When it talks about other teams and players starting to take a knee during the national anthem; none of this would've happened without Colin. When this first started, players were outraged and owners were upset, including the public. Now, everyone seems to be in agreement with what Colin did and think he should be able to return to the NFL, but unfortunately nobody seems to take him. Hopefully that day changes but don't know when it'll actually happen.
