Evel Knievel 1976- presentation outline

Caleb Calderon

Evel Knievel- 1976 Ideal toy corporation

Leading ideology type:

- Hegemony; "buying into the version of" american culture that is pressed upon as the common way of society.
      >semivalence: reches into american population (boys primarily, excluding girls as time as pre-gender meshing is not norm as of yet)

Function of allurement:

VISUAL / STYLE
- Hue and Focalizers; leading factors in my opinion in how the ad reiterates the red, white, and blue colors.
      >Habitus of "american thrill/fun" expressed as well from the bold and all caps that function within the flashiness of colors that are themed.
     > assurance of excitement across the board for the desired audience once lured in.
    > High contrasts- compatibility with popping features for intended main focuses.

Repetition/rhythm

TROPES/SCHEMES
- Constant of phrases and vowels that are put placed throughout subtext and final catch.
   >Working to reiterate hegemony of the ad itself.
   >Maintains the excitement and liveliness that work hand in hand within the cultural context of American thrill-"Evel" originated from evil-embarking on adventure.

  1. I really like how this speech is set up. It is easy to follow, but I feel like it is a little wordy for an outline. Like the book says, I fell you will be tempted to read a lot. It should be simple words to help you remember all of these phrases. I don't think it will be too long of a speech though. I think it will be the perfect length. I can easily spot your thesis, which is very important, and I can see it is about the American ideology. You did a great job, just a little wordy.

  2. I think it would be good for you to have an introduction and conclusion for your speech. So, you're not just listing off your main points and also make sure you have transitions in there as well. You might have been planning to have those, but it just is not in your speech outline. Also, make sure you have a list of references in your outline, because you need to make sure the audience knows where you are pulling this information from. I think you need to make it flow better like an outline as well. Maybe put this is point one that I am going and this is point two, etc. I think just having a better structure so your outline doesn't just look like notes you took in class would be good. All of the content is there it just needs to flow better like a speech.
