California Hauntings Perelman

Example
Perelman
Explanation
Stating the investigations of ghosts and that they may exist several times
Repetition
Trying to embed argument by repeating themselves over and over in order to get the audience to start to think about it more
“God created angels and angels are just manifested as ghosts”
Structure of Reality - Double Hierarchy
Qualitative
Arguing that because God made angels there must be ghost, insinuating that there is a clear connection with lack of evidence
“Activity was encountered in the main stage
area, the smaller Stage Two, and the costume shop
area… as well as curious noises and unexplainable
doors closing around the technical areas.”
Presence - Time/Space
They make the idea of activity feel urgent despite the fact that it could be nothing, but it leads the audience to believe that it could also be something

  1. I like your textual evidence. I need to go back and add some to mine! I like the arguments you chose, they seem to do a good job matching up with the texts. Now you just need to go in and connect them to a central thesis. What exactly are you arguing overall with this evidence and the explanation of each? Is the thesis that they are just trying to get into your mind and make you believe? I think if you solidify that, you'll be good to go.

  2. I like that you used the double hierarchy, those confuse me. You seem to have a good start and understand where things are going. I think your thesis could have something to do with how they are trying to confuse you enough that you believe them.
