  1. genre Icon Are there key symbols or characters that call to mind a narrative or genre? These are young, modern people at this time that can enjoy a nice bottle of Pepsi- Cola and not worry about anything. They are laughing because they have no worries.
They are also thin so that tell you that Pepsi- Cola can’t make you fat.
space open The top and sides seem empty. The top and sides are empty. There’s no background image which makes you focus more on the laughing happy people and the message, that if you drink Pepsi- Cola, you will be happy.
Implied distance medium shot Is the subject people in interaction (are they about waist up?) They are waist up which makes this a medium shot. I think they did this so they zoomed in just enough so you can get the whole picture.
You can understand their body language. Their body language is saying, I’m happy and I’m leaning into my boy(friend) because this drink just makes me so happy. I can’t stop laughing because Pepsi- Cola brings everyone together.
abstraction abstraction Is this a realistic photo? This is not a realistic photo. It’s a cartoon which I think makes it more fun which Pepsi- Cola is all about. It also increases the pop culture at this time which Pepsi- Cola was really becoming popular.
style fun fun On the bottom where it says “peps you up” it seems like a fun, groovy, type text. It’s telling you that Pepsi-Cola is a fun drink and it’s supposed to be all about fun just like the girl laughing in the photo.
The big paragraph on the page is Times- Bew Roman; at least that’s what it looks like. It’s very original which is what Pepsi- Cola is.
focus focalizers Are figures or colors or spaces used to pull the eye across the image? The Pepsi- Cola figure is used to pull the eye down the page and see the cap to the bottle. It wants you to see the lid so when you go to the store you’ll be able to know what it looks like.

  2. Apparently you have better eyes than me. Where does it say "peps you up"? The bottom line I see is the copy-write information.

  3. You did a really thorough job of looking at this ad. Do you think the simple title could have been just to get people's attention? They may have been trying to get people to stop and read the whole ad as they skimmed a magazine. Also, all of the people in this ad look really athletic. You might explore how being athletic relates to being full of life. So the ad may be saying that people who are full of life drink Pepsi. If you drink it, you will be full of life too. Based on your presentation, the suggested theme of this add is that the drink of young black people should be Pepsi.

  4. To me it looks like they have just got done running a race, towels around necks, smiling because maybe they won, talking with others on the team. This also goes along with "Pepsi has a lot to give." Pepsi could be a reward for their effort and hard work, or it could be like a Gatorade, to recover post competition/workout?
