Cereal Ad rhetorical devices - Jared Guy

Rhetorical devices used in Ad

  1. As I delved into the Kellogg’s Ad and what you analyzed from the ad. I could not help but focus on the subtle symbols like diplomas and a cluttered desk that you mentioned. These seemed like a coded message about success. Kellogg’s is not just a cereal choice; it’s a nod to achievement. This ad is inviting us to view breakfast as more than a meal. Positioning Kellogg’s as a deliberate step towards a day filled with intellectual triumphs. So, I am proposing a thesis of cracking the code of success with Kellogg’s.

  2. Through analyzing the Kellogg's Ad as well as your rhetorical analysis I can't help but agree with your overall analysis. Initially what caught my eye was the "formality" of the ad which would typically differ from Kellogg's general light-hearted and child-targeted ad's. Your recognition of the subtle hints around the room such as the diplomas on the wall, the cluttered desk, the mans old age suggesting his wise intelligence, all seem to allude to the fact that he is a well educated and hardworking scholar. With this being a cereal ad, and breakfast being the first and so-called "most important meal of the day", I propose the thesis that by eating Kellogg's cereal you are setting yourself up for long-term success.
