Madres de Plaza de Mayo - Toolbox

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8adCWyLz1WkZ1dIVjBNYXJpaXM/view

For analyzing the Madres de Plaza de Mayo I will be using the comedy frame toolbox. The Mothers gathered together in the town center to peacefully protest against the government for the injustice of the mothers children being taken. Even though the mothers were protesting peacefully, there were still acts from officials that would disrupt the protests by using some levels of degree of force to take the mothers. The mothers were also afraid to meet at the beginning in fear of the government punishing them. They were able to get the attention of other countries and their medias to educate others of the injustices that occurred in Argentina. The others countries put further pressure on the Argentinian government and with the presence of foreign reporters, the police did not threaten the Mothers. This social movement is no laughing matter, however in the case of comedic frame of "the foolish man gets educated", this toolbox works well. The Mothers protested peacefully however were still being threatened and punished by the government. They seeked aid from their own media resources but their lack of education and money made it difficult. The mothers were able to tactically use the aid of foreigners to help their cause. By the mothers non-violent actions and the police reaction of hostility, the Argentinian police and government looked foolish. When the mothers began seeking help from other countries and they came to know of the injustices, these other countries were in favor of the mothers and saw the Argentinean government as foolish.
