Bigfoot using P-OT

Again here's my link: https://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=3400

Argument
Definition
Example
Reason
Observed
Concrete data.
“picks up a rock and throws it at it”
He first hand observed his friend throwing this rock.
Supposed
Probable data.
“I immediately thought that it looked like a bigfoot standing there.”
He immediately “thought” so he supposed it seemed like a bigfoot.
Presence
Drawing attention to premises.
See first four paragraphs
He sets up the story with four long paragraphs of description of where they were and what they were doing.
Repetition
Say it again. And again. And again.
“avid hunter”
He repeats over and over that he is an “avid” hunter and knows what he’s talking about when it comes to animals.
Normative
Prescriptive: what it should mean.
I thought it was going to turn out to be a stump or something”
He was trying to make sense of what he was seeing by describing it as something that would be normal.
Transitivity
If A=B and B=C, then A=C
“avid hunter… I am very aware what all the animals look… I am 100% sure this was a bigfoot.”
He’s an avid hunter so he can spot any animal and if he can spot any animal then he can spot a bigfoot.
Hierarchically arranged
Example linked to double hierarchy of multiple events/concepts.
about a week later on our local news someone found tracks down by the river in this area.”
Since tracks were found near the area later that week, supposedly, a double hierarchy.
Model
Persons or groups whose prestige confers value on their acts and should be imitated.
“Witness very believable.”
They say many times that the two are experienced and “believable” which makes you want to believe that they should be trusted.

  1. You have good stuff to work with! It seems like the reporter is very cocky and will never accept the fact that he could be wrong. This causes a lot fo problems because everything he sees is going to be Bigfoot no matter what if he wants it to be. All of the connections that you've made seem correct. Was he searching for a Bigfoot on this trip or did this encounter just seem to happen? He seems like he knows what he's talking about despite not having seem Bigfoot before so that seems off.
