Why did they put "Purple Pie man" on the add is what i'm wondering. He has the stereotypical mustache twirling look and is bigger than all the girls what girl looks at that add and says "yea purple pie man" and not "yea strawberry shortcake?"
I never understood why they would make toys smell editable but I cant say I never played with them. Feminism is definitely the them of this Ad; stereotypically and in away that's breaking the typical stereotypes if you think about it... I'm sure there wasn't many companies to come out with a colored doll in that time. All of the dolls are very unique in character and are referred to as "friends" which is a movement in itself.
