Argument

Statement
|
Explanation
|
Facts/truth-supposed
|
“With the best military in the world, the Carson administration will
reinvigorate America’s global alliances and build new partnerships..”
|
Carson supposes that we have the best military. There’s not an exact
way to prove whether we have the best military or not.
|
Succession/propagation
|
America’s national security begins with its military, but draconian
budget cuts by the Obama administration have endangered our military
supremacy. Our armed forces are too small, too old, out-gunned and
under-resourced. A Carson administration will ensure that our military is
equipped and authorized to defeat global terrorism, able to deter and respond
to regional threats from rogue nations and tyrants, and prepared for other
grave contingencies around the world.
|
With draconian budget has endangered our military and budget cute,
Ben Carson’s administration will help strengthen our military.
|
Inclusion
|
There is no more solemn duty for the President of the United States
than the execution of his responsibilities as Commander-in-Chief. I will only
place America’s armed forces in harm’s way when necessary to protect America
and her allies. Every deployment will begin with a clear vision, a strategy
to achieve victory and the necessary resources to succeed.
|
Carson is treating this as a bigger whole. He is using the
responsibilities of the President and the armed forces and put it all
together towards America. It makes you want to see the whole picture more
accurate to what he’s trying to say.
|
Values/specific
|
Under a Carson administration, no one will question America’s
commitment to any ally, especially Israel. As president, I will also
re-solidify ties with members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as
well as with other friends and allies around the world.
|
He is willing to sacrifice things so it will benefit us.
|
Hierarchies/concrete
|
I cannot ask the American people to pay for a military build-up
without demanding corresponding efficiencies. That includes streamlining
agencies, making our defense procurement more responsive to strategic
requirements and reforming vast government bureaucracies.
|
He’s concrete about what he’s going to do and is specific about it.
He wants us to know that he has a plan and wants us to be confident in him.

These are great points and connections that you have made, but I do not see the larger argument that you are going to build on these points. Try to point out the similarities between each one of your analyses to see if there could be connections to form a larger argument. Maybe about the fact that Carson uses other countries to compare to what our country is and how he uses this to draw people into his own ideas. He creates a larger frame for his ideas then once people see these ideas in their true form they then can relate them to his own beliefs that he is running for. Great job!
