Your right this ad just wants to sell the products out of the cigarettes and tobacco. So most likely Santa is telling you that cigarettes and tobacco are great way to light up because they are round and firm just like Santa because he looks round in the middle and I bet he is firm. It also shows how Santa carries the cigarette and tobacco in his Toy Bag but the bigger picture is that everyone should have cigarettes and tobacco so that we can give to our close family and friends because of the tags that they have on the products.
I agree with your argument as well. Selling the product is the advertisers main focus. I think you make very clear and valid points in your argument. I especially like the point in #2 how Santa does not look full of life and endorses Camel because he is a smoker.
I also agree with your add. The purpose of this add is clear.. They are trying to sell cigerattes buy using santa. But I think your argument does a good job by going deeper into the add and coming up with ideas that aren't obvious.
