What the heck is Electronic Mail?
Two Bytes Are Better Than One
high contrast
Bright lights and dark shadows.
The image is in high contrast grayscale likely for the sake of catching the eye as well as being cheaper to print.
| |
geometric
An illusion of depth and space.
There is a definite illusion of depth, with the white “halo” around the focal subjects making them appear to pop out from the background.
| |
balanced
The image is symmetrical and stable.
The image has a strong sense of symmetry that draws the eye to the middle.
| |
full
The frame is dense with figures.
The frame is mostly full, though there is some blank space around the edges that creates a framing effect.
| |
focalizers
Are figures or colors or spaces used to pull the eye across the image?
The high contrast is used to draw the eye to the middle of the image towards the man’s shirt and the name of the product (which is the brightest part of the image with the darkest text in the middle of it).
| |
eye-level
Are we even with them?
The subjects are at eye level.
| |
medium shots
Is the subject people in interaction (Are they about waist up?)
It is a medium shot with most of the focus being on the man and women and their actions.
| |
Qualities of the text
The text is a bold sans-serif with very thick strokes. The text’s color is always in high contrast to the background, making it easy to read from a distance and draw the eye. The letters themselves are very even throughout similar to Helvetica and other modern style fonts, though the lower case letters are closer in size to the capital letters. The text itself feels declarative and like it belongs on a road sign or computer screen.
