Thornton Distillery P-OT/ Fallacies

P-OT

Premises- Facts/Truths: Supposed- Probable Data

EX: For this investigation, I was accompanied by Dale and Paul.  I began by doing my usual K-II sweeps around the dining hall, and then made my way down towards the famous Artesian Well, where my highest mG reading was about 1.4.  We had done our EVP sessions mostly in the Well area, with the help of our Phasma Box ITC device.

Premise Modifiers: Presence- Aggregation

Multiple different encounters/ stories from witnesses to make a whole story that the distillery is haunted.

Quasi Logical Arguments: Definition- Descriptive

Sharon Ford talks about how she was in the bar alone and felt someone touch her shoulder to turn around and see no one there. Leads to believing this place has to be haunted.

Based On The Structure Of Reality: Coexistence- Intention

Each experience and stories mixed with the findings from the recorders lead to believing the distillery is haunted.

Establishing The Structure of Reality: Illustration- Clarity

The stories told by workers that worked there gave clarity that this place is haunted. Talking about hearing footsteps and feeling that if someone was in the room while alone.

Fallacies

Wishful Thinking

One man said it got colder downstairs but was the only one to think so and felt an unusual drip of water. Said both of these can lead to paranormal activity.

Hasty Generalization

On the audio recorder, the question was asked how many people were in the room and got the response saying there were “seventeen people”

This led to believing the room is haunted and more ghosts are in there.

Unrepresentative Sample

All of the audio evidence used is the only “factual” things they have but still is not enough to come to the conclusion that there are ghosts. The audio sounds like someone is talking from off camera.

Post Hoc

In the end, they talk about how it was abnormally quiet on the scanners and then talk about how the place has been remodeled since they were there last. This hints that it was quiet because of the remodel that has been done.
